In case you didnt notice, the X-Cabinet is shaped a little differently from other 4x12 cabinets on the market.  Many people have asked us how we came up with the profile, so we thought we would provide a few of the ideas we considered.  It all began with the stick typical to a standard 4x12.  The one attached to the baffle to keep the back panel from collapsing.  We decided to try and eliminate it, since its purpose was purely structural and it looks very similar to a device used to dampen rotating machinery.  Another idea we were considering was that of isolating the individual speakers from each other.  Since this would support the back, we thought it might be a good way to achieve our objective.  Then we came up with the idea to only partially isolate the individual speakers and leave a shared area at the center of the cabinet open, just to see what kind of possible new sounds this would produce.  Now, this led to the kicker.  If we do that, why not reshape the sides?  Simple V notches seemed like a pretty straightforward way to accomplish everything we wanted to do.  So basically, we took a square, notched it to support the back, partially isolate the speakers, and eliminate the need for a stick.  Then we added diffusers from Egnater Amplification to eliminate the hiss from the center of the Vintage 30s, and took the typical switch off the jack plate.  In the end, it looked like an X, and we just decide we would call it that.  We hope you have as much pleasure playing it, as we did in making it.  Let the eternal quest continue.
