Medical disclaimer

Effective and last updated:

Old Dog Products shares general information about comfort, home setup, routines and daily life with older dogs. We are not a veterinary practice. Articles are written from published veterinary sources. None of us are veterinarians, and our articles have not been reviewed by a vet.

Everything on this site is general information, not veterinary advice. This includes articles, the Senior Dog Comfort Check and its results, checklists, emails and social posts. It:

  • does not diagnose any condition. Changes like night-time pacing, weakness, appetite loss or accidents can have many causes, and some of them are treatable medical problems that only your vet can identify;
  • does not recommend doses or treatments, and never tells you to start, stop or change a medication, supplement or prescription diet;
  • does not replace an examination by a licensed veterinarian who knows your dog, and it doesn’t create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship.

Please talk to your vet before making changes to your dog’s care, especially if your dog has a health condition, takes medication or is in pain.

If you think it’s an emergency, don’t wait. If your dog suddenly can’t stand or walk, collapses, has trouble breathing, has a swollen or hard belly, has a seizure, is in severe pain, or has stopped eating or drinking, contact your vet or an emergency animal hospital right away.

Mistakes. Information can become outdated, and we can make mistakes. If you spot one, please tell us at hello@olddogproducts.com.

Products. Products we mention are suggestions for comfort and practicality, not treatments. Check product instructions, size and weight limits, and your vet’s guidance before use.

End-of-life decisions are personal and belong to you and your vet.
